NSDOS – Micro Club

2nd Album of French electronic artist & performer NSDOS.

March 2020. In the time warp of the first confinement, the waiting slowly
brings you down. In this world life is limited to one’s four walls. For some this unusual situation is the opportunity to re-think.
For Kirikoo Des, a.k.a. NSDOS, the disappearance of interactions which are his principal source of inspiration had left him with the feeling that he was no longer in tune with the world around him. It’s worth pointing out that the artist who could be seen in the frozen wilderness of Alaska for the
recording of his epic Intuition or in the hotspots of cultural capitals is rarely
confined to home.

Plunged in an introspective voyage, NSDOS tries to tear himself away from the current situation, put
a cross against the past, to move into the future. In this process, the exploration of virtual reality, replacing an exterior reality, far off and incontrollable, brings him to discover a strange topic on internet. On that forum: microclub.fandom.com anonymous people are discussing about alternative solutions to the closing of the nightclubs. For the first time, the idea of «microclub» appears, to organize own clubs at home.

Quickly plunged by this exchange, NSDOS didn’t wait to integrate the community. For this sound explorer, the need to keep generating energy is a remedy in this toxic atmosphere. Regularly distinguished by his capacity to construct his own artistic and technical environment to produce an innovative sound, the self-taught artist will once again create his own system in order to adapt. Inspired by the situation he decides to create his own micro club.

Putting his sensors on his own sensations, NSDOS combines his personal background with his underground roots and clubbing culture to record eight tracks raw and lo-tech, filmed in different parts of his house. The nice reception of his videos on the forum finally led him to imagine an album.

This futuristic Micro Club kicks off with the techno sounds of « Minimal Risk » Layers of electro accompanying the stroboscopes of « Automation de l’Amour » then the mix up of « Efficace toujours » that running with almost industrial tonalities ». Then the sound blurs and the beat gets deconstructed to welcome Crashing Box with its ambitious dance influence…moving on to « No Title » with the computer waves which mix in with ambient sounds. For the first time NSDOS integrates words into his instrumentals in the image of « Fais-moi le paix » using technology to disguise the voice from beyond the grave to give it a robotic aspect…Micro Club closes out with « Non love » a unique statement, but nevertheless disillusioned of this period.
